Springfield-based “BATH FITTER Tennessee,” has earned the prestigious Governor’s Award of Excellence, putting them into a elite group of companies statewide.
The award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
BATH FITTER of Tennessee has 85 employees and is a manufacturer of bathtubs and shower liners. Their facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 350,000 hours without a lost time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness. The site’s injury-free record dates back to December 2007.
To be eligible for the award, a facility must have a written Safety and Health Program in place and be free from various violations during the award period and the preceding 36 months. In the case of BATH FITTER, 85 employees worked 352,107 man-hours without a lost workday or restricted duty incident.
According to Sam Schuckman, Safety and Security Coordinator for BATH FITTER, the company achieved this goal because, “We rely on employee involvement and maintain the ‘FISH! Philosophy,’ which has helped our company build a stronger organization and improve our communication as a team.”
